I have always admired Richard Diebenkorn's figurative work. His bold, expressive use of line has always attracted my sensibility and his compositions employed a structural, almost architectural weight to them. When his work transitioned into abstraction for his Ocean Park paintings he came to rely heavily on color for balance in his composition in addition to his already architectural linear quality.
